ADRIAN ALICEA SS13/ BEAUTY BY SUBTRACTION

NYC October 3, 2012

Some people imagine cloths as uniforms for the daily war. Some see them as mirroring a social role. Some consign them to boredom and banality under the pretext of rationality. Some see them as a punishment, lost in the sick game of punishments and the forbidden. And then there are a very few who make joyful gestures of every dress, a voyage through light and color, from sea to land with a tremor of sensuality. This is the SS13 collection of ADRIAN ALICEA. He gives us the feeling of the first day of creation as we are taken on a journey through his fantastical world. Magical creatures of the sea lend the colors of their environment with conceptual geometries. Darting Caribbean sea creatures have the splendor of unusual metals. As if by subtraction ADRIAN returns to the venerable halls of high fashion a daring and agressively sexual vision. His is a world with it’s door opened on a wondrous, opulent dimension where light plays with the richness of his palate. When asked about his vision ADRIAN states: ” It came directly from the diary of my life and memory.”
