080 BARCELONA FASHION SPRING-SUMMER 2009
BARCELONA, September 4, 2009 /FR/ – Born in Peru and now established in Barcelona, Andrea Llosa has drawn inspiration from traditional Peruvian style, but not only. For her debut runway show, she has mixed in her vision for Spring and Summer 2009, the craftsmanship of communities still working by hand in the Andes or in Iraq with a daring association of colours, which could be of Indian origin.
Andrea Llosa is trying to provide a wardrobe for the city-dweller who needs brightness and genuine products in their everyday life. Her future customers also probably have a concern about fair trade with developing countries, and could be world travellers with either nostalgia, dreams of trekking trips, or both.
The designer who is taking part in the Bressol Project and has been selected to show individually on the Barcelona catwalk, has managed to unify modern design with authentic roots, bringing the world together in an attempt to find a new expression for the global village.
The looks proposed by the designer often mix geometric motifs -executed here in embroideries of bright thread- with light fabrics on the top half of the body and more heavyweight natural, organic fabric on the bottom half of the look to create volume.
The overall impression of intense and bright natural obsession is enhanced by accessories made of straw, like oversized rectangular rucksacks, for the urban Sherpa. The square straw box, attachable to the hand, seems a more “commercial” option due to its easy wearability under many circumstances.
Proposing a collection with much personality, both inspired and inspiring for its wearer, Andrea Llosa has become a new name to count with on the international fashion scene. Her budding career could lead her collection to reach the stores soon, as it represents a perfect balance between wearable and original. She might just, without even knowing it, have invented a new concept: “World Fashion” (just like in ’’World Music’’). Congratulations!
