Dr. Joyce Brown President of FIT

Dr. Joyce F. Brown, president of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), has been named a recipient of City & State magazine’s 2013 Above and Beyond Award. Dr. Brown, who is being honored in the Public Service category for her achievements as an educator and academic administrator, is celebrating her 15th year as president of FIT, a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
Dr. Brown, along with 24 fellow recipients, will be honored at a gala on March 13. “These awards were created to not only recognize outstanding intellect, but reward a dedication to service in the public and civic space,” said Andrew Holt, a co-founder of the Above and Beyond awards and director of marketing at City & State. “We look forward to honoring the accomplishments of the 2013 honorees at our Above and Beyond gala.”
