Recently at the Brooklyn MuseumJean-Paul Gaultier and friends hosted the private viewing of the fantastic and internationally touring exhibition entitled “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk.”

Sponsored by Lexus and Piper-Heidsieck, a long-standing partner of the French designer, guests like Karlie Kloss, Coco Rocha, Veronica Webb, Chris Delgatto, Calvin Klein, Christian Siriano, Eve Salvail, Fern Malis, Gary Van Dis, Amanda Lepore, Stefano Tonchi, June Ambrose, Suzanne Bartsch, and Randy Jones came to raise their glass and pay tribute to Gaultier. Endless champagne was served and a Vanity Projects nail bar offered Jean-Paul Gaultier-themed manicures.

Addressing the crowd, Gaultier enthusiastically thanked his Paris, Montreal, and Brooklyn teams who all contributed to the organization of the exhibit. With a lot of sympathy, the friendly designer humorously added: “I’m a suburban boy that came to Paris to make his collection. And here I should say: Brooklyn is not a suburb but I feel a little at home. I want to say that Brooklyn is even more ‘hype’ than Manhattan so I’m very happy to be here! Go and see the show and enjoy!”

“The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” is currently on view through February 23, 2014. The exhibition, curated by Thierry-Maxim Loriot, is organized by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with Maison Jean Paul Gaultier, Paris.
