KATI STERN ANSWERS FASHIONREPORTERS’ SEVEN QUESTIONS INTERVIEW

NEW YORK, August 27, 2008 /FR/ - Kati Stern is the designer behind the brand Venexiana. Hungarian by birth, Kati was raised and educated both in Europe and in New York. At the time of decisive choices for one’s career, she studied fashion, architecture, and music. A musical prodigy from age 4 and a winner of various prestigious awards as a fashion student, Kati Stern first followed her career as an architectural /interior designer.

Buying and restoring her second home in an important Venetian Palazzo in Italy changed her life. Hence, Venexiana LTD, a New York/Venice based fashion company. Although she began by creating costumes for the Carnevale in Venice, Kati then launched her own line in 2003 and  had her first fashion show in New York for the spring /summer 2004 season. She has become since then the most “Venetian” New York fashion designer.

But please don’t think only of Venice as an old European and extraordinary city with a great past in the Renaissance period up to the 18th century, at least not when you think of Kati Stern’s designs! Stern’s creations do mix diverse elements with original and unusual effects: leather with lace and metal with fur, for instance. Her attention to quality and detail is impeccable, which does not imply that the pieces thus created should be considered plainly classic! On the contrary, the quality pieces which Kati Stern  thinks out and then manufactures clearly rock, and could be judged more inventive and subversive than many a collection by younger designers.

Baroque rock n roll or even baroque hard rock are more than often Kati Stern’s expression translated here in high fashion for Venexiana’s super sexy looks.

Before she presents her collection for Spring-Summer 2009 under the tents at Bryant Park on September 5 at 09:00 pm, Kati Stern has answered Fashionreporters’ Seven Questions Interview, while she was finishing her summer holidays in Venice.
