NEW YORK FASHION WEEK SPRING-SUMMER 2009

NEW YORK, August 22, 2009 /FR/ - In a few days now, the tents at Bryant Park will be open again to present in New York City the Spring-Summer collections from September 5-12.

This season a record number of internationally recognized designers will present their collections . Among these:

- Andy & Debb, a famous Korean couple, whose signature clean, fresh modern cuts are inspired by artists’ designs..

- Aurelio Costarella has turned a Western Australian based company into an internationally recognized luxury brand.

- Charlotte Ronson has gained a notable reputation. With fourteen boutiques already in Japan, her much anticipated debut show in Bryant Park should reinforce her expansion on the global scene.

- Leifdottir is Anthropologie’s new wholesale line, and promises a “pretty, artsy and quirky collection of clothes for a young, feminine customer”.

- Michael Angel comes from Australia and has been in the fashion industry for over 10 years as a stylist for many celebrities and campaigns. He has now transferred his hypercolor designs into fabric to breate a collection which could truly astonish.

- Sergio Davila, a native from Peru, began developing and marketing a menswear line based on a vision for how he himself wanted to dress. His very first collection created a buzz on the West Coast.

- Thuy Diep, is a New York designer, born in Vietnam, who inherited her skills from her parents, who used to run a custom-made clothing shop. Her romantic style is  reflective of “a woman of beauty and intellect with an artistic and forever youthful soul.”

- Zheng Luo, a Chinese designer, owns Omnialuo Inc; one of the most successful fashion companies in mainland China. Working with natural fabrics gives her collections an organic and eco-friendly flare.

“We are very excited to welcome so many new talents,” said Fern Mallis, Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion. “We are anxious to observe how these energetic, enthusiastic and creative new ‘fashion engineers’ will inspire, influence and impact an industry hungry for new talent.”

Creative new talents will share the stage in the iconic tents of Bryant Park with celebrated designers such as DKNY, who is enjoying its 20th Anniversary, Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Zac Posen, Venexiana, Chado Ralph Rucci,… and with designers from Brazil, Korea, Russia, India, Israel, Spain, France, Italy and Australia.
