New York December 6, 2011 Now open! Valentino and Giancarlo Giammetti officially launched the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum at a press conference at the MoMA this morning hosted by Anne Hathaway. Visitors can now download the groundbreaking free desktop exhibition showcasing his five decade career. With over 10,000 square meters of virtual space, Valentino’s archive can be digitally viewed in detail with interviews, videos of nine exhibitions and events, a master class with Valentino, and a media library with 5,000 images including dresses, photos, drawings and 180 fashion show videos.
Hathaway came straight from appearing at The Kennedy Center Honors last night in Washington, D.C. ”A few weeks ago Giancarlo and Valentino asked me to be godmother of this event,” she told the crowd. “I told them that due to conflicts there was absolutely no way. They persisted and tracked me down and explained to me what this was all about. Once I understood, I knew there was absolutely nothing that would keep me from being here today. Today we are witnessing the birth of a revolution and I do not believe that word is hyperbolic. This will change art, the art world and how we experience art forever.”
The museum was created by Giammetti and designed and produced by Novacom Associés in Paris in collaboration with Kinmonth-Monfreda Design Project in London.
