First All-Diamond, 150-carat ring worth $70 million crafted

Geneva, Switzerland March 25, 2012

Shawish Jewelry has created the world’s first diamond ring. Not impressed? Consider that the entire ring is carved from a single diamond. The ring was created by Shawish’s President and CEO Mohamed Shawesh using lasers along with traditional diamond cutting and polishing techniques. It took a full year to carve the ring, which has been copyrighted and is expected to sell for $70 million. At first this ring could come across as some type of publicity stunt, but Mohamed Shawesh, President and CEO of Geneva-based Shawish Jewelry, seems genuine and passionate about the reasons he wanted to create it. He explains:

“A ring made entirely of a faceted diamond has always seemed like a fantasy, It seemed impossible, so we decided to embark on the adventure of creating it. To create the perfect diamond ring is the epitome of art.”
