CFDA ANNOUNCES REED KRAKOFF AS THE 2012 ACCESSORY DESIGNER OF THE YEAR

Kauai, Hawaii June 5, 2012

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has announced Reed Krakoff as the winner of the 2012 Accessory Designer of the Year Award. This honor is given to the designer who has made the most outstanding contribution to and has influenced the direction of accessory design, with his or her Spring and Fall 2012 Collections. This is Reed’s first win for his namesake label. The 2012 CFDA Fashion Award winners were announced last evening at the annual gala at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the CFDA.

Reed Krakoff is an American designer with a career that spans over 20 years. His most recent fashion venture is an eponymous line of women’s ready-to-wear, handbags and shoes in the tradition of great American sportswear design. The Reed Krakoff collection juxtaposes utility with femininity; it’s both functional and poetic – a new look of sophistication, but one with an unequivocal American ease and confidence.
